On the 9th, I got 15 baby quail, they are smaller than golf balls. Mom loves them because they are babies (of course).

Last night 1 died so now I have 14.
In two weeks they will be flying two feet off the floor of their cage. They are 4 days old.

New Things

Eleven days ago today my older sister Ash found a ferret in the woods, she was skin and bones, and she was about .9 pounds and about 7 inches long. Now she is 1.9 pounds and 21 inches long, girl ferrets are suppose to be about 1.5 pounds. When I gave her a bath the day after we found her I could see all of her ribs.
Today I gave her a bath and I could barely see her backbone, so she is getting better everyday! Sometimes we let her run around the house with the dogs outside. The same night we found her we were going to a wedding reception we had about an hour before we had to leave.
Mom let me keep her,so I named her Isis, after the Egyptain goddess of magic and life.

Mom got a dog about a month ago, she is nice (when she is not climbing the fence). She is named Mary, Mom said she likes to play with her skirts.

Making Berry Ink

What you need to make the Ink:
Half cup of berries-raspberries, strawberries, or blueberries.
Food stainer.
Small bowl.
Wooden spoon.
Small jar with lid.
Half teaspoon salt.
Half teaspoon vinegar.

What to do.
Fill the strainer with the berries, hold over the bowl. Carefully crush berries with spoon, allow the juices to drip into the bowl.

Pour the juice into the jar, and dispose of the berry pulp that is left.
Add the salt and vinegar to the juice and stir until the salt has dissolved.

If the Ink is to thick, add a small amount of water. Be careful adding water it may dilute the bright color of the Ink.
If you want to make a Quill:
A bird feather -Found outside; or at any arts and crafts store.
Carefully cut the end of the feather at a curved angle, creating a fairly sharp point. You may also want to clean out the end of the quill.
